Office Lamp for Research Pharmaceutical Laboratory

Project Image

This sculptural lamp was created as a centerpiece ornament for the new headquarters of a leading pharmaceutical company in Italy, recently recognized for their groundbreaking DNA research. Designed to echo the elegant double-helix structure of DNA, the piece embodies innovation and discovery while enhancing the atmosphere of the company’s new space.

A 6-meter spiral structure was conceived to echo the elegant double-helix form of DNA. The design combines metal with materials that both diffuse and reflect light along the shape, visually linking the lamp to the molecular essence of DNA while infusing the space with a sense of movement. These initial renderings helped define the structure and lighting behavior before production began.

The client requested a dynamic lighting system that could be easily controlled. A custom control interface was provided through a touch pad, allowing seamless switching between static colors and pre-defined animated lighting sequences.

This project was developed in collaboration with Julius Born, who handled all the electronics, as part of Luce Studio. It was built and assembled in Italy from custom-made stainless steel, with materials and technical support from ZDFY, one of the leading LED technology providers in Germany.
